Dynamic and Vibrant

What changes a normal, average sports club to possibly one of the most dynamic and exciting clubs in the country? PEOPLE !!! - DEDICATED AND HONEST PEOPLE WHO ONLY HAVE THE WELL BEING OF THEIR SPORT AND THE FELLOW CLUB MEMBERS IN MIND !!

After hosting the 2003 Kremetart, the then known Soutpansberg Cycling Club approached several companies for assistance and sponsorship for the 2004 event. From the moment André Prinsloo from P&L Hardware got involved with the organising of the Kremetart and other club activities, everything changed at a sometimes alarming rate. When the organisers were struggling to keep within the budget for the 2004 event, his attitude was demonstrated with a  “Give the cyclists what they expect from the Kremetart, I’ll pick up the tab” reaction. From then on André and P&L Hardware’s involvement just escalated to a stage where they have become the heartbeat of our cycling club.

Innovative ideas are essential to keep a sucsessful venture rolling. Converting one couch potato with a sedentary lifestyle into a happy, healthy, and social cyclist is not a minor achievement; to get it done with over a hundred people in a relatively small town in just 15 weeks is near to a miracle. Sean Brennan founded and implemented the Zero to Hero 15-Week Cycling & Fitness Training Program and has done just that. The success of this annual project again underlines that absolute and unselfish dedication of people will result in unbelievable success and progress.

Entries for our flagship events, the Kremetart Cycle Tour and the Akkedis Mountain Bike Challenge are just escalating year after year. The Kremetart was once again rated the BEST cycling event in South Africa for 2006 – “Rate Your Race” on Super Cycling. The Akkedis is showing definite potential to become one of the premium mountain bike races in South Africa.

At this stage the club’s activities are channelling more than R120,000 annually to charity organisations . This proves the club’s commitment to improve the quality of life in our community. We will continue to support local charities for many years to come and undertake to comply with this commitment in future.

The P&L Hardware Cycling Club is proud to be associated with organisations and people who unconditionally invest their time, knowledge, efforts and financial aid to the sport and to the best interest of the community.

Our motto of  “Ensuring that cyclists get what THEY want”,  just seems to be the hit recipe to promote cycling in general. We really hope that the national cycling community will at some stage take note of what the really important issues regarding cycling, competitive and recreational, are.
