Kremetart 175km

The Kremetart 175 Km Stage Race

This race is proudly presented by Kremetart Cycling Inc. and the P&L Hardware Cycling Club. The Kremetart was once again rated the BEST cycling event in South Africa for 2006 – “Rate Your Race” on Super Cycling
http://www.supercycling.co.za/

This annual event takes place in Makhado / Louis Trichardt - (+/- 350 Km. north of Pretoria on the N1). The area is well known for its picturesque locality in the shade of the majestic Soutpansberg Mountain. The main staged race takes place around the western side of the Soutpansberg and offers panoramic views of the mountain. The route winds its way past several stunning age old Baobabs (Kremetart trees) and many other Bushveld vegetation. The route is considered fast and is well suited to tandems (best winning time 4hrs 1min).

The famous “bosveld potjie” and the hospitality and involvement of the entire community, always has, and will be the trademark of the KREMETART.

Subsidiary events
Kremetart Hundred – Start and finish in Louis Trichardt
Kremetart Funride – Start at Schoemansdal and finish in Louis Trichardt.

Remarks about the race on Chainwheel
http://www.chainwheel.co.za/

“In general, and by way of thanks to the organisers, this was really a fantastically well organised event. There were not multiple events in town, as in prior years. Thus there was more than ample space in the caravan park, and I believe from friends that other accommodation offered was great. The prize giving was attended by provincial departmental heads. Sponsorship was huge. The entertainment afterward was great with vocals provided by the legendary Adam Tas. The local master of ceremonies should give up his day job and go into public relations permanently. He really provided a good laugh at each stage and help build up the "gees" amongst us C for serious cyclists.

I have returned tired (175km is, no matter how you ride it, tough) but feeling that the total package offered by the over 100 people and organisations that went into organising the Kremetart this year was a real value-add. Once again we all got generously laden entry hampers containing promotional material and loads of 'lekker' local fruit.”
