Safety Rules
- No HELMET, no ride - never.
- Know the RULES of the road and stick to them.
- Keep your LINE - ride PREDICTABLY - never change line before ensuring it is safe.
- Keep your bike ROADWORTHY - Brakes, wheels, pedals, handlebars etc.
(Do safety check before each ride.)
- Ride to be SEEN - Be as visible as possible.
(Bright colour clothing and helmet, lights, reflective clothing etc).
- CONCENTRATE, Always ride defensively, anticipating the actions of other road users that can cause accidents - always assume that you are invisible to motorists
- Be CONSIDERATE to other road users - Get them to like cyclists
(It's to your benefit)
- Be ALERT - Call out hazards to riding partners.
- Keep near to the LEFT EDGE of the road
( Exceptions:) Passing another bicycle or vehicle after ensuring it's safe. Getting ready to turn right
- Stay in SINGLE FILE.
( Exceptions:) Riding abreast only when it can be done without being a hazard or an annoyance to other road users.
